Concession Programme

Concession Process

The V.C. Bird International Airport retail business unit is standardized by using a Concession Programme. This programme is strategized to give every prospective business, whether international, regional or local, an opportunity to bid for the space.

Spaces are advertised for a period of two weeks via the local newspapers and social mediums to ensure visibility to businesses who may be interested in making a bid. This method is a tendering process where the awardee is chosen based on a “best fit model” using specific criteria.

How do we decide who gets the space? In most instances, the Airport Authority has a predetermined need for the space and advertises specifically for that. In other instances, spaces would be advertised as “open tender.” An “open tender” allows companies to propose the type of business deemed suitable for that space.
